I have to give props where props are due....
Yesterday was one of those days where I wished it didn't exist. Joel and I were tired and hungover and sidled with two kids were suffering from both extreme lack of sleep as well as a sugar hangover.
Yesterday could have been one of the worst days ever. Yet, my children were awesome. All four of us lazed around the house and did absolutely nothing. There was TV, video games, barbies, and even the occasional nap on the couch. Not once did I hear anyone whine about being bored. Not once did they argue with each other (I honestly think they were too tired for even that). At about 4:00 we were all starving. Like Ethiopia starving (kidding...mostly). I was too lazy to cook, but not too lazy to drive down to Burger King and spend $23 on the best food I've ever had in my life. That may have been the hunger talking, but it spoke, and I listened.
It was an early bedtime for everyone last night. Dylan and Maddie went to bed at 8:00, which for a non-school night was ghastly to them. Maddie fell asleep right away. I went to bed at 9:30 (which is dreadfully early for me) and found Dylan still awake in his room TEXTING, which is a blatant rule breaker. Fortunately for him I was too tired to yell so I just ripped the damn phone out of his hand and gave him the stink-eye that said "if you do this again, I'll shove this phone down your throat."
Dylan and Joel woke up at 8:00; I woke up at 8:30; Maddie woke up at 9:00. It was a double-digit sleep night at the Rogers' house.
Today I had the desire to be less lazy. Okay, I lie - I had the desire to be lazy, but I knew it was a bad idea. I did some cleaning and some running and then tonight we went to Famous Dave's for dinner and then rented Aliens in the Attic. Not the greatest movie, but it wasn't painful.
So, now we're facing a new year. Bring it, 2010. I can take it.
